The Springfield 390 is the 390th one-of-a-kind piece in Vortic's "Springfield" line of the American Artisan Series. This watch contains the original movement (timepiece), dial (face), and hands from a vintage (1880’s – 1950’s) pocket watch. The American Artisan Series is a line of fully American Made wristwatches powered by restored, U.S. made pocket watch movements.
Today’s Watch of the Day is the Springfield 390! This watch boasts a decorated and ornate silver dial that blends perfectly with our gunmetal titanium case. Its elegance is easy to see, with the unique design features on the dial, the blue steel hands, and unusual dark, black numerals. We capped it off with a nickel-plated crown and stone straps. We were lucky enough to be able to bring yet another beautiful Autocrat movement into this watch and continue to marvel at just how great these movements look. This movement was the top-tier model from the Illinois watch company at the time. A machined circular pattern on the center bridge plate extends out into a sunburst and continually draws your eye to the different design elements of this watch. Rose gold gears, silver hardware, and a brass balance wheel with double roller escapement dawn this movement. This watch was originally manufactured in Springfield, Illinois in 1926 by the Illinois watch company. In November of this same year, the United States officially established the numbered highway system, including the world-famous Route 66.
